I thought I couldn't make biscuits. My attempts were always epic fails. Then I found this recipe on Smitten Kitchen. I adapted it to be my own and now biscuits are on my Christmas menu this year.

4 cups of flour

2 tablespoons baking powder

1 teaspoon of salt

2 tables...

Whenever I have times in my life when I want to give up I am reminded of a story from the life of my late Mother. As a newlywed in her early twenties, she decided to go to nursing school. The problem was, she hated it. At the end of every rotation she vowed to quit. At...

I grew up on road trips. I drove from Nova Scotia to Alberta (9550 Kilometers round trip) many times as a child. The logistics of road trips get tricky. Especially when every seat of your seven passenger vehicle is full. I can remember being on one of the most beautifu...

Dear Children,

A change is as good as a break.

We have just returned from another grand adventure all through British Columbia.

If there was one overlying mantra for this trip, it was this "a change is as good as a break". This wasn't a restful trip, but it was inst...

I don't make it through many books in a year, but I'm making my way through this stack. Do you have a book recommendation for me? Leave it in the comments.

In Praise of Slowness

"I think that in the headlong dash of daily life, we often lose sight of the damage that this roadrunner form of living does to us. We're so marinated in the culture of speed that we almost fail to notice the toll it takes on every aspect of our l...

Dinner needs to be on the table in 10 minutes? You got this.

Fry or scramble some eggs

Sprinkle cheese on top

Let kids "cut" their portion out with a cookie cutter

Serve with toast if you have time for that.

About me

Jerry & I were married in August of 2002 in the Cardston Alberta temple. It snowed that morning, and our life together has been full of unexpected surprises ever since. We have a lot of fun, which helps balance out the inevitable challenges of raising a big family while managing the unpredictable Realtor hours that go with my husband's profession. I'm a five time veteran of childbirth (that's 15 trimesters, what was I thinking?), and I now hope to survive raising them all. We go through a lot of food, break a lot of iPhones and travel as much as possible.

Sushi-loving Mom of 5. My favourtie holiday is Boxing Day (left-overs anyone)? I love travel and SUP yoga.
